Support Us

Why should you support the Crag Journal? We think our website has value, in that it can provide lots of useful information that may save you time, money and help you plan the best possible climbing trip.

Small items like a coffee, baguette or a chocolate bar also have value. They can provide energy and enjoyment, but usually they’re finished within a matter of minutes. The cost of something like a coffee isn’t seen as a significant purchase or a financial commitment, rather a good trade off, for a relatively small amount of money in exchange for something pleasurable.

The Crag Journal can provide at least as much worth as that, our articles specialise in helping you compare the quality, size, location and experience of visiting many climbing areas around the world. Our posts are written from genuine personal experiences, we never write about places we haven’t been to and we never use stock photos, AI or scraped information.

While the website is free to use and will remain that way, it isn’t free to produce. There are financial costs for us to meet in order to keep the site online. Additionally, writing a feature length article, like our South Africa post, for example, can take well over 20 hours to write, edit and format. Our aim is certainly not to make a fortune, but rather give us the opportunity to improve and upgrade the website, improve the user experience and secure the future of The Crag Journal long term. We want to totally avoid the use of adverts, pop ups, affiliate links and sponsorships we have no genuine interest in, supporting us helps us continue to do that. We think the best way to ensure independent websites like us survive is to support them directly.

Thanks for reading and for your support!
